This is a leaking crankshaft oil seal. Oil leaked all the way in the engine bay, due to the belt spraying it everywhere. This is a very EXPENSIVE JOB in these Mercedes, because to access it you have to lower the subframe.
It'd be a good idea to replace also the harmonic damper (aka pulley).
