This is the ultimate V8 Vantage from Aston Martin, and the only one in the world that's street legal! There are only 7 Vantage AMR Pro racecars in total, each costing over £1m when new, and this is the only one that has been converted to be legal to drive on the road. Let's check it out!

At Aston Martin Cheltenham, we are greeted by a fabulous display of cars from a private collection including the V600 Prototype Coupe, V600 Roadster, brand new V12 Vantage, and the Vantage AMR Pro. These cars form a part of a fantastic collection and an ideal backdrop for today's shoot of something completely exclusive and never previously experienced on the road.

The AMR Pro brand began with the Vantage back in 2017, intended to be the ultimate gentleman's racer, featuring elements of the Vantage GT4 and Vantage GTE racecars, as well as wearing the halo livery from the 2017 Le Mans 24H winning #97 Vantage. The engine is unrestricted to 509bhp from the GT4, with aggressive bodywork to match, with both the wing and bonnet coming straight from the GTE car. On start up though, that's when things start to get very aggressive, with a bellow that almost makes my Vantage GT8 seem pedestrian.

After a walkaround of the car, and the most unbelievable cold start sound, let's get out onto the road in the AMR Pro to see what the experience is like. Of course this is a car designed to be driven at maximum attack and therefore high in the rev range. While it might be road registered, it still needs to be considered as a racecar and freely revved, with a conscious effort to avoid traffic and awkward road situations. Nonetheless, it is the most brilliant of experiences, and a truly unique opportunity.
