The Mercedes-Benz G-Class was developed as a military vehicle in the 1970s by Austria and Germany. Known as the "Gelandewagen" or "All-Terrain Vehicle", this model was first introduced to the civilian market in 1979. In the early 1980s, it became famous for its durability and robustness; especially thanks to its off-road capabilities, it was preferred by many states for military and security duties. However, this vehicle began to attract attention not only for its robustness, but also for its ability to combine Mercedes luxury with off-road performance. In the 1990s, the G-Class gradually became a luxury icon and began to offer higher equipment options. In 2002, Mercedes made the G-Class more powerful with the AMG department and launched the first G55 AMG model.
