The Jaguar XE is the compact car built using a similar design and engineering to the larger XF sedan. It is made using lightweight aluminum for better handling and fuel economy and is one of a few sedans available with a diesel engine. Jaguar has done an amazing job of making its diesel technology very quiet and refined.
The diesel is a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder with 180hp. The Jaguar is also available with two version of its 2.0L Turbocharged gasoline motor with either 247hp or 296. The top model is a rocket thanks to a supercharged 3.0L V6 with 380, a lot for such a compact sedan. All models come with AWD and an automatic transmission.
The diesel is the one to get for the best fuel economy and it is rated at 7.8L/100km in the city and just 5.8L on the highway.
The standard Safety includes front, side and curtain airbags, along with traction and stability control. The XE is also available with a package for roughly 2500 that includes autonomous braking, lane departure warning and BLIS

This XE is a bit on the small side for rear seat passengers, it is best suited for couples or a single person, the XF is much better for a family situation. The front dash is nicely styled but many of the materials used inside are a step down compared to much of the competition. The stereo head unit is an 8-inch on the base or larger 10.2-inch on the top trims. The gear selector is a rotary design that pops out of the centre console.
A base Jaguar XE starts at roughly $46,000, and up to $62,000 for the top supercharged model.

Here are the highlights
The Jaguar XE puts a premium on driving dynamics and ride comfort; this is one of the best handling cars in its class. There is a wide array of engines including a torque and fuel-efficient diesel. The interior is pleasant but could use a few more refined materials and the back seat is rather small. If you are a single person or couple and want to drive the road less travelled, the jaguar XE is certainly not in every driveway.
