The Mercedes Benz AMG GT R always ranked at the top of the depreciation leaderboard. But this changed. Since used car prices started to soar, AMG GT R prices increased. Moreover, prices increased more than for its competitors like the Porsche 911 gt3 and turbo, Audi R8, and McLaren 570S.

The AMG GT R was never known for its strong residuals. Especially the first drop form MSRP was high and, consequently, the car ranked at the top of the depreciation leaderboards. However, the used car market changed drastically and this aided GT R prices. Prices increased by 27% during the last two years and this price increase is higher than the increase for its competitors or on par with its competitors. Moreover, with this increase, prices are very close to MSRP and it should be possible to sell an AMG GT R with minimal loss.

However, supply levels increased a lot in the AMG GT R market and this might affect future prices. Its main competitor, the Porsche 911 GT3, saw a large supply drop. Therefore, the AMG GT R might be the riskier bet when it comes to future price stability.
