How to install CarPlay for Mercedes-Benz models with NTG 4.5/4.7 comand aps and audio 20 head units with 5.8/7 inch screens. I do my best showing in detailed how to do the install easy at home.

Don't worry about all cables is not hard to install these. Would say you should estimate around 4-5 hours if you not done installs like this before, don't rush and you going to make it easy.

This CarPlay decoder works for all W212 models from 2012-2015 with the NTG 4.5 and NTG 4.7 systems. It doesn't matter if you have comand head unit or audio 20 is same procedure. For older W212 models 2009-2011 is usually NTG 4.0 also some 2012 years then this particular decoder don't work.

Both comand and audio 20 head units are called NTG 4.5 or 4.7 the different between them is that comand head unit are more complex with more original options like reverse camera, front camera, built in GPS etc. The audio 20 head unit is more basic and not possible to have original rear camera because is not have that output. But with this system you could add rear/front camera for audio 20 and other options like HDMI.

First years 2009-2011 (some 2012) have the first version called NTG 4.0 and usually the audio 20 units don’t have original Bluetooth for music streaming, in that case a CarPlay unit is excellent because it add a Bluetooth connection to your system.

????NTG 4.5/4.7????
2012-2015 have the next version called NTG 4.5 and 4.7 I actually don’t know the different between them they also looks identical.

????NTG 5.1????
2016 last year of the 212 model, it coming with NTG 5.1 way more modern system better image quality more clean interface, also updated rear/front camera. Overall a better and more modern system. In this case is already built in CarPlay and you don’t need this kind of system.
