Shane: Hi, everyone. Shane here at etrailer.com. Today, I have a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, and I want to walk you through how I installed Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass for 50 amp fuses. The reason this vehicle needs it is because, when the car is set up to be in tow mode, you have to have the key in the accessory on position to shift it into neutral. Once shifted into neutral, the key can not be taken out of the ignition because it kind of locks it into place. So you have to be able to shut the power off for the battery.

Otherwise, all of your components, all your accessories inside, stay on, runs down the battery as you're pulling your vehicle down the road. This allows you to disconnect the power to the battery without having to come out and pull out that fuse each time you want to flat tow your vehicle and then having to go back and put it back in when you get to wherever you're going. This pulls the fuse out and mounts it into this red wire. You'll have a switch inside. You simply hit the switch when you're ready to tow it, and it disconnects the power between the battery and the vehicle. To get our installation near the amount of the unit you want to make sure it's metal close to the fuse panel. The fuse that we need to remove is inside the engine compartment.

You can see how I have mine mounted here. A couple of self tapping screws kind of mounted right here. You just want to make sure when drilling into anything like this, you check behind it and make sure you're not going to be running that screw into anything. All fit, you're going to have a plug. In your kit you're going to have another bundle of wires with a plug on the end, connect those two together.

For ground wire, I added a larger ring terminal and ground it right here to this factory ground on the firewall. From this bundle, you're going to have a red wire with a fuse. That's going to get connected to the positive side of the battery or positive posts. You're also going to have a bundle of gray wires. Those need to be routed inside the vehicle or wherever you're going to be mounting the switch. I mounted mine inside the vehicle.

So I ran these through a grommet, which is located straight down over here, and it goes right into the passenger side floorboard. You're going to have the black cable and a red cable with a large fuse holder. This is for a 50 amp battery fuse in your owner's manual, that's going to tell you battery one, 50 amp, and it's directly straight down from here. Drill a couple holes in your panel. It's going to come with the rubber grommets in your kit, run the two wires in, you want your red one to go to the hot side. So you'll pull this fuse out. Somebody is going to turn the key to the accessory on position, take a light and you're going to test both prongs inside the fuse panel. Whichever one is hot, that's the side you're going to attach your red one too. You're going to attach your black one to the other side. They're going to have connectors, the female spade connectors, you just push them right into place. The fuse that you pulled out of there is going to go into this fuse holder. Your red wire, you can actually see it's marked right there, a little red and have some red paint there. Connect that there, black wire there it's going to come with the screw and the nut. Here is my gray wire. On the inside. It's going to have three wires, red, black, and white. This is a switch that comes with your kit. Now, depending on where you want to put it, it's going to depend on how you have to drill it out. I have mine out of my there, so what I use is I just used a step bit and just gradually made that hole big enough to where I can get this switch to slide into place. There're three wires that are in here. The red wire coming out of it has to connect to the center pin on this switch. The black and white can be a switched or put on either one. But the red one, has to be on the center one. There's going to be a plastic nut for this switch. Slide it on to your wires, slide your wires through the hole, connect them onto the back, push your switch in. And then you're going to tighten that nut on the back of the switch. And that's just going to hold it in place.Once you have all your wires connected, you can test it out. We're going to turn our key to the accessory on position. Like we're getting read
