Its has been raining on and off for three days so finally did some outstanding jobs.
When the car is warm the display slowly fades out. The LCD (liquid crystal display) on the dash is on the way out. Expensive new, but ordered a new one from Ali Express for half the price.

Then watched YouTube videos on how to remove the dash and replace the display. We did not think to record our work until re-assembly so included some of the YouTube guidance we followed exactly.
Made a home made dash removal tool with a coat hanger

Putting the dash back in the car the CAN bus cable was not plugged in properly and the whole thing was blank. Tried again and heard all the little servo motor buzz click noises and it worked! Very happy with the result and now we can use the computer functions properly.
