German tuning company Manhart Performance has waved its wand over the latest Mercedes-AMG SL63, imbuing the sleek roadster with added power, presence, and a fresh moniker. Say hello to the Manhart SL 700 R.
By default, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine churns out 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. However, this didn't quite satisfy the folks at Manhart, who fortified the powerplant with an enhanced air filter, MHtronik powerbox, and revised intercooler. The outcome? A staggering 697 hp and a tire-shredding 690 lb-ft, transmitted to all four wheels for optimal grip.
To handle this abundance of power and torque, Manhart also fine-tuned the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission. For those seeking a more resonant V8 growl, Manhart provides the option of OPF delete sport downpipes with 600-cell catalytic converters. It's worth noting that this modification is not approved by Germany's Technischer Uberwachungsverein (TUV) and can only be chosen for export purposes.
When it comes to exterior enhancements, Manhart is usually known for going all out. However, the company opted for a relatively understated approach with the open-top AMG. The vehicle's bodywork is invigorated with Manhart's signature black and gold color scheme, featuring golden accents dispersed throughout. Gilded stripes elegantly traverse the hood, trunk lid, and sides of the car.
The stock wheels have been replaced with Manhart Forged Line wheels by mbDESIGN. These 22-inch alloys sport a black finish with exquisite gold detailing and are shod with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2 tires, measuring 295/30 at the front and 335/25 at the rear. While Manhart refrained from upgrading the braking system, the AMG-branded calipers have been swapped for Manhart-designed ones.
Naturally, customers can request additional customizations at an extra cost. This extends to the interior, as Manhart offers personalized touches for every vehicle it produces.
While some may find the golden embellishments a tad ostentatious, it must be acknowledged that this represents one of Manhart's more restrained designs. Additionally, it stands as one of the company's rarest creations, with only 10 examples of the SL 700 R planned for production in this particular configuration.
