This video serves a tutorial for accessing the transfer case chain for Mercedes W164, X164, W251 series ML350/500, GL550/450/350, R350/500. In the tutorial, I worked on two vehicles, 2007 W164 ML350 and 2009 W251 R350. The procedure should be the same for W164, W251 vehicles and similar to X164 series vehicles.

The loose transfer case chain for these Mercedes vehicles is a design flaw. It occurs on many cases. The symptom of a stretched transfer case chain is the humming sound coming from the transfer case area when accelerating.

Tips:
Do not transplant used chain!
Simply buy a new one for saving the effort and quality guarantee.
