For today's unboxing review we bring you a vehicle we've been wanting to do for a while, the one and only Mercedes-AMG G63. It's everything you thought it would be and so much more. How much more? Try a hand-crafted 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 563 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque, with power going to all four wheels through an AMG 7-speed automatic. For the record, the G-Class is a true body-on-frame chassis SUV, with solid front and rear axles. Point being, it can go just about anywhere, though we highly suspect most owners stick to dry pavement. That's kind of a shame because it has three locking differentials for off-roading, a low-range transfer case, and minimal overhangs front and rear for steep inclines and declines. The interior, which was updated only last year, is modern enough, but there's evidence everywhere the G-Class dates back to 1979. How so? The cabin is narrow, legroom is limited, and rear seat passengers have a raised seating position. Performance (try 0-60 in 4.8 seconds) and honest to goodness off-road capabilities...what's there not to like? The price, that's what. Our 2016 Mercedes-AMG G63 tester came to a grand total of $149,175. Not cheap but so worth the fun. Enjoy the review!
