Special thanks to @27evan (IG) for informing me of this issue and sending me information regarding parts! In this video I show you guys how to remove the intake manifold from your M156 powered 63 AMG, and repair the internals. The manifold is made of magnesium due to its light weight and thermal properties, however, as these cars age people have realized that the magnesium corrodes and causes nearly undetected issues. While some cars may experience poor idles and a lack of responsiveness with check engine lights due to holes in the magnesium, others may not have any apparent issues at all. This was the case of my ML63. Despite there being a hole in the throttle body plate, the car had adjusted over time and wasn't detected by myself or the computers. After repairing the manifold and replacing the magnesium plate with an aluminum one, the car is noticeably peppier with better throttle response. Instead of replacing the very costly manifold, this seems to be a great solution. Hope this video helps you guys out! Been a long time in the making!
