In this video, we replace the transmission fluid and filter in our project R320 CDI. This transmission was used in a lot of Mercedes products from the mid 2000s into the early 2010s. If your Mercedes transmission is acting up, your fluid and filter might need to be replaced.
This project is not overly difficult but it requires a lot of patience, some special tools, and having a lift makes the job a lot easier. Some tips:
-Our Benz uses ATF 134 - make sure you use the right fluid.
-We used a hand pump and a special fitting to get all 5 quarts through the drain hole.
-Once this is in, the car needs to be started and wait until the pan is warm to the touch. Then pull the fitting to see if fluid comes out. If not, there needs to be more fluid added. If fluid comes out, it should drip a little but not a lot. (in the video you can see that we were slightly over full). Be sure not to over fill.
This is our final project of the R320 CDI! Be sure to check out our upcoming Gambler 500 videos and our newest AMG sedan that just arrived. Stay tuned!
