This video is from the 2022-Aug-26 track day at Area 27 in BC (Canada) put on by the Velocity Autosports (https://velocityautosports.ca) and 888 Racing. The cover photo was one of the many photos taken by Jay Liu foto (https://jayliufoto.com), sponsored by Dynamic Performance Auto Centre (http://dpautocentre.com/). I hope some people will find it interesting and/or informative.
This was my first Area 27 event in the 2020 AMG GTR Pro. Although I did one other event at Area 27, it was 3 years ago and in a C63 S on street tires. My goal was to get relatively comfortable with the track and have fun without getting too aggressive. The weather was hot enough that the car was down about 50-60 HP in the afternoon heat.
For some unknown reason, the dashcam that captures the console and infotainment screen (to get throttle and brake pedal info) didn't work during this session so the speedo and engine RPM gauges are generated from the data collected by the RaceCapture unit via the car's OBD port.
The sound is recorded via a custom external microphone setup. With good speakers, it sounds about 1/2 as awesome as when you're there!
The GTR Pro is stock except for the following changes:
- brake fluid changed to MOTUL 666
- front/rear brake pads changed to Pagid/TiKT pads
- front/rear TiKT brake-cooling ducts were installed
