Mercedes-AMG GT lineup is growing as the company has used the Goodwood Festival of Speed to introduce the new GT 63 Pro 4Matic+. It’s a performance-oriented variant that promises to deliver an “even sportier driving experience.” Set to arrive in the United States next year, the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is distinguished by an aggressive front fascia that has larger intakes as well as additional carbon fiber deflectors. Other highlights include an active AirPanel air control system, which helps to reduce aerodynamic lift on the front axle by over 66 lbs (29.9 kg). The upgrades don’t end there as the coupe has a fixed rear wing and additional underbody air deflectors that are similar to those found on the One hypercar. The sporty persona is further enhanced by a standard carbon fiber package that consists of a front splitter, rear diffuser, and side skirts. The car rides on 21-inch forged alloy wheels that are wrapped in either Michelin Pilot Sport 5 or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. Regardless of which rubber you choose, they’re backed up by a high-performance braking system that features the “largest standard ceramic brake discs currently available from Mercedes-AMG.” They measure 16.5 inches (419 mm) up front and are grabbed by six-piston calipers. Mercedes didn’t say much about the interior, but the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ has AMG Performance seats as well as a leather and microfiber sport steering wheel. They’re joined by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.9-inch infotainment system, and an available rear seat. Power is provided by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 603 hp (450 kW / 611 PS) and 627 lb-ft (849 Nm) of torque. That’s 26 hp (19 kW / 26 PS) and 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) more than in the GT 63. The engine is connected to a nine-speed transmission, which sends power to a fully variable all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately 3.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 197 mph (317 km/h).
