In this video, I will share four of the most common reasons for a premature death of a diesel engine. Two can cause a painfully slow death while the other two can be quite catastrophic. This video is specific to older diesels before 2000 that have mechanical fuel injection. The reasons for catastrophic failure apply to other gas and diesel engines as well. I realize there are more than four but these are most common reasons that I have seen working on Mercedes diesels over the past 20 years.
