Temperatures between -40° and +60° Celsius, snowstorms with speeds exceeding 200 km/h and heavy rains that obscure visibility. What goes into making cars that can handle any extreme weather situation? Our hosts, Becky Evans and Elly Wong make it their mission to find out.
In the first stop of the Because it’s Mercedes-Benz series, they visit the Research & Development facilities in Sindelfingen and Untertürkheim, where they first visit the climate chambers. Here, engineers can test vehicles like the EQS in extreme temperatures and manipulate conditions such as snow and sunshine to make sure all features perform when it matters most.
Next, they visit the wind tunnel, where Mercedes-Benz tests their cars in heavy wind and rainfall with the goal of designing vehicles that always ensure clear visibility for safe driving.
Chapters:
00:00 – 01:11 Intro
01:12 – 04:54 Cold Testing
04:55 – 08:24 Heat Testing
