The Mercedes E-Class W213 gets in June 2018 new engines, clever assistance systems and a sporty look package. The new six-cylinder OM 656 diesel engine delivers 340 hp in the E 400d 4Matic. Prices, pictures, data.
With new assistance systems, the E-Class is as smart as the S-Class, explains Mercedes. For the new model year the limousine and T-Model also receive a new four-cylinder diesel with 245 hp. Two new six-cylinder top models also complete the range. Added to this are new extras such as a sports style package, new interior options and fresh wheel designs.
The new straight-six diesel OM 656 replaces the previous V6 diesel. It comes first with two-stage supercharging and 340 hp in the E 400d 4Matic in sedan and T-model guises. The power is available between 3,600 and 4,400 rpm. At 1,200 rpm, the in-line six delivers 700 Newton meters, which remain available up to 3,200 rpm. The acceleration is rated at 4.9 and 5.1 seconds, the maximum speed is limited at 250 km / h. The consumption is between 5.5 and 6.1 liters / 100 km, the CO2 emissions between 145 and 161 g / km. The engine complies with the mandatory Euro 6d Temp emission standard from 1 September 2018. The E 400d 4Matic sedan costs 62,719 euros, the T-model 65,510 euros, in Germany.
New E 300d: also strong, but 10,000 euros cheaper
The also new E 300d costs with four-cylinder diesel and rear-wheel drive 52,646 (T-Model: 55,436 euros). The OM 654 makes 245 hp and delivers with 500 Newton meters 100 Nm more torque than the well-known E 220d. Thus, the sedan runs in 6.2 seconds from a standstill to 100 km/h. As before, E 200d (150 hp), E 220d (194 hp) and E 220d 4Matic are also available. Other engines will follow.
E 53 4Matic + with new inline 6-cylinder
Fans of the gasoline engines can order from June the E 53 4matic +. Its engine draws thanks to turbocharger and electric auxiliary compressor from three liters displacement 435 hp and 520 Newton meters. An electric motor adds 22 hp and 250 Nm. Enough for a zero-to-one-hundred sprint in 4.5 seconds and 250 km / h top speed. The sedan costs 79,248 euros, the T-Model € 82,039.
New sports package and steering wheel
In addition to the new engines, Mercedes also renews the steering wheel: as in other models, the controls for the cruise control are now located in the left-hand steering wheel spoke. The tempomat now also uses map data, so for example can brake before curves and roundabouts.
New in the program is the sport style package with chrome elements in front and rear bumpers, tailpipe trims and 17-inch light-weight wheels in 10-spoke design. The interior features of the sports package include a black inner sky, black open-wood ash on the center console and aluminum pedals with rubber studs. The package costs 1,250 euros.
