Service X85: Go North East "Tynedale Express" 5299/NK08 CHD

Service X85 operates between Newcastle and Newbrough. It boasts as the fastest way between Newcastle and Hexham, getting there in around 45 minutes, serving only Denton Burn, Heddon, Horsley and Corbridge. This service also operates alongside service X84, getting to Hexham in over an hour.

For the past couple of years, services X84/X85 have been using a fleet of 5 Mercedes Benz Citaro 0530N vehicles, numbered 5298-5302, that operate under the "Tynedale Express" livery. 2 other citaro's, 5303 and 5304, help out when a Tynedale Express vehicle is out of service.

These vehicles are being replaced by 4 brand new Enviro 400MMC buses, these buses will be branded under the X Lines brand. The new buses will feature Free WiFi, USB Charging Points, Next Stop Announcements, Tables upstairs with Wireless charging points and additional pull out tables for those who need to use a computer whilst travelling. Services X84/X85 will also be the second route to benefit from Bike Racks located in the buggy/wheelchair bay.

I am not completely sure what will happen to the "Tynedale Express" buses once they have left Hexham, however I would assume they will be repainted and cascaded to other depots.
