It’s time for a Japanese hot hatch showdown!
We’ve got Yianni in the new Civic Type R, and he’s facing off against Mat in the GR Yaris!
So let’s see how these two compare. Starting with the Type R, it’s powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol that can deliver 329hp and 420Nm of torque. It drives the front wheels via a manual gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,429kg.
Then we have the GR Yaris. It’s equipped with a 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo that can put down 261hp and 360Nm. Just like the Type R, it’s a manual, and it tips the scales at 1,280kg. However, it has one key advantage over the Type R - it’s four-wheel drive!
Does this mean it’ll be a clean sweep for the GR Yaris? Or will the additional power of the Type R push it to victory? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
