An important step in figuring out electrical problems is understanding the circuit design of the circuit you're trying to diagnose. Determining if the circuit is ground side or positive side switched is a good start when you don't have a wiring diagram handy. In this video ScannerDanner and I talk about how to determine if a circuit is ground side or positive side switched using basic electrical troubleshooting tools. Now this does not come without some drawbacks as pointed out in the video, but it will still get you started if you're trying to figure out an electrical problem. If nothing else this video shows some basic circuit design principals that you can use to increase your electrical knowledge. Here's some links.ScannerDanner channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ScannerDanner?feature=CAkQwRs%3DEngine Performance Diagnostics by Paul Danner: http://www.autocomputerstroubleshooting.comSolving Electrical Problems: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/faq/solving-automotive-electrical-problemsRosedale Technical Institute: http://www.rosedaletech.orgDiscussion about this video: http://ericthecarguy.com/kunena/18-The-EricTheCarGuy-Video-Forum/49815-ground-side-power-side-switching-w-scannerdanner#89792The best place for answers to your automotive questions: http://www.ericthecarguy.comEricTheCarGuy code lookup: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/obd-code-lookupFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy?fref=tsTwitter: https://twitter.com/EricTheCarGuyGoogle+: https://plus.google.com/100195180196698058780/postsInformation on Premium Membership: https://www.ericthecarguy.com/premium-content-streaming-etcg-contentStay DirtyETCGDue to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.
