To save yourself a load of cash (Mercedes Main Dealers will most probably charge you labour just for plugging in their computer to diagnose faults) you could buy your own OBD2 handheld computer.
In this video I will show you where is the Mercedes S350 OBD2 Port Location.
Good luck with getting an OBD2 handheld computer that is compatible across all vehicles as they seem to all be slightly different! Make sure you get one that is definitely compatible with the Mercedes S350 OBD2 diagnostic computer. Some will allow you to just read Mercedes S350 error codes, some will allow you to reset any Mercedes S350 error codes on the Mercedes S350 dashboard.

OBD2 Overview:
When the OBD2 system locates a problem, a DTC or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored in the Vehicles computer memory and a warning lamp on the dashboard is illuminated.
Warning lights yellow in colour tell you that a problem has been detected, and vehicle service is needed. If you buy an OBD2 (OBD-II) handheld computer then you should be able to read error codes yourself, if you have a good one you may be able to reset error codes, else at the Garage a service technician can quickly retrieve the stored diagnostic trouble codes from the computer memory of the vehicle. The stored diagnostic trouble code will help the service technician diagnose and repair the problem.
Warning lights red in colour normally indicate you need to stop the vehicle.
