We're driving a very special car this week, one driven at the Formula 1 #CanadianGP by a 7-time World Champion.

This week we're behind the wheel of this 2022 Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4matic+. We've had the pleasure of driving many of the 53-series AMG vehicles so far, including the 2019 E 53 Coupé and 2020 GLE 53 SUV. This one's a bit special, configured nicely in High-tech Silver Metallic on Bengal Red/Black Nappa leather interior, our specific car was the weekend wheels for none other than Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. A few weeks after the Canadian Grand Prix, this press vehicle has been re-wrapped from his special livery and still de-badged.

We go over all the technical specifications of this CLS 53, including the 3.0L incline 6 engine with EQ Boost, the 9G dual clutch transmission, AMG 4matic+, and everything else available on this vehicle, both as-optioned along with some additional features. We also discuss how the CLS-Class fits into the Mercedes-AMG portfolio and why you might want to consider it.

We take the 2022 Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4matic on a real-world road test to talk about our overall fuel economy results with this vehicle, then spend the rest of our time in Race mode to see how this 4-door coupé performs on the road. We talk about our thoughts on the ride, drive, and handling, along with how comfortable the vehicle is. We also go over reasons why you'd want to consider this vehicle if you're in the market for a $115k+ luxury sports vehicle.
