The French may have an outstanding record for producing some of the world’s most delicious food and fine wines. However, their cars have been a source of Wonder to the world, and it's almost impossible not to notice.

Citroen’s DS sub-brand came to life six years ago to present something out of the regular. If there’s a genuine alternative to the German hatchbacks, it’s probably the new DS 4.

The 2022 DS 4 is an exotic alternative to the BMW 1 Series, Mercedes A-Class, and Audi A3. This new bold French model presents classy looks and a very extravagant interior. The platform used for the DS 4 is made up of new and exceptional parts compared to others of the same kind.

Here’s everything we know so far about the 2022 DS 4.

It may appear at first glance similar to the new Citroen C4 because of some shared drivetrain. But the DS 4 isn’t as related to the C4 as it appears, even though they have some things in common. The company went out of the regular to present for the DS 4, an autonomous-driving tech, for the first time. This new DS has a stylish look inside, just like the exteriors.

A digital display sits in place of the traditional dials and gauges to keep you informed. It has a 10-inch infotainment display placed in the middle of the dash. You can control the DS 4's main system and driving modes with the new 5-inch touchscreen placed in the center console.

A new upgraded reality head-up display capable of projecting navigation aids, warning messages, and other information directly onto the car’s windscreen. This is one of the available driver assistance technologies in this beauty.

It always has a night vision assistance system that uses an infrared camera of 200 meters. This is capable of noticing hazards in low light conditions.


The interior itself is made up of mainly leather that has a beautiful and rich brown and white combination. You also get to choose from a few different options like ash brown wood and forged carbon leather or suede-like Alcantara seat trim.

In addition to leather seating surfaces, the DS4 has an Air ventilation system that hides the center vents of the air conditioning system. This air conditioning system is hidden behind a sword-shaped trim element, evenly ventilating all seat occupants. For ease in carrying more luggage, the DS 4 has a very large boot space of about 430 liters. It is a big leap from the regular 380 liters, which incidentally is the same figure the current BMW 1 series also has.
