When the Hyundai Kona first launched in Australia back in 2017, it did so alongside the new i30 hatchback - and at that time, the Kona needed to stand out to grab some attention.
It clearly did that, with Hyundai's second-smallest SUV (the Venue is even more diminutive) now occasionally outselling the i30, and it's also Hyundai Australia's third-highest selling vehicle, accounting for a whopping 23 per cent of total sales in 2020.
And this newly updated 2021 Hyundai Kona welcomes new engines, technology and styling, so it will no doubt have the the same impact, if not an even greater one, on Hyundai's 2021 sales results.
But with so much competition in the small SUV segment, including from newer additions like the Kia Seltos, Kia Stonic, Mazda CX-30 and more, the question is this: does this updated model improve the Kona formula enough to keep it relevant? Let’s find out!
