The Saldanha Drag days held outside Cape Town, South Africa, are some of the largest motorsport events in the country.

Over two days, hundreds of cars compete in the quarter mile and 800m races, and this year, records were broken in both disciplines.

But we wanted to tell the story of one of the stars of our channel's Launch Control series, Pierre Poggenpoel, who has built a phenomenal 400hp Mazda-powered Mk2 Ford Escort. You can watch that video here:
