Mat is meeting a legend!
He’s flown over to America, and he’s got his hands on the legendary Ferrari F40! It’s one of his dream cars, but the question is, will it live up to its legendary status?
Well, let’s start with the looks… And what a looker it is! Around the rear, it has an absolutely iconic shape, with round tail lights, a massive spoiler, and three exhaust outlets! You can also see into the engine bay through the lightweight plexiglass cover on the top. Along the side you have huge side vents to feed the engine, and the iconic shape continues around the front, with everyone’s favourite feature… Pop-up headlights!
Step inside, and the F40 has a truly old but classic interior. It comes equipped with wind-down windows, no steering wheel adjustments, and a couple of simple buttons for the climate controls on the dash. There’s felt lining across the dash and centre console, and the red-lined sports seats are still pretty comfortable.
When it comes to performance, the F40 is equipped with a glorious 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 that can produce 480hp and 580Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox, and when it was first released it was the fastest production car in the world, with a top speed of 201mph!
Back in the day, an F40 would cost you around £160,000, but if you’re looking to buy one now you’d be hard-pressed to find one costing less than £2,000,000! So is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!
