In 2024, the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class and AMG GLE ranges will undergo a mid-cycle update that will include significant changes to the powertrain and the addition of a new hybrid member of the family. Additionally, Mercedes adds new standard equipment and options for the AMG-tuned variants, as well as upgrades their interior and external appearance.
The whole lineup is now electrified, with most models gaining a 48-volt hybrid system and integrated starter-generator. Peak output remains unchanged, with the V-8 AMG GLE63 S producing the most, 603 horsepower, and the four-cylinder GLE350 producing the least, 255. The AMG GLE53 additionally benefits from a larger turbocharger and new software that raises peak torque from the previous 384 to 413 pound-feet, which is claimed to reduce its time from 0 to 100 kph by a few tenths.
The GLE400e 4Matic plug-in hybrid joins the conventional GLE-class, with a 134-hp electric motor that works in tandem with the standard turbo-four gas engine to create a total of 381 horsepower. A 60.0-kW fast-charger is an option for the all-wheel-drive GLE400e, which comes standard with an onboard charger of 11.0 kW.
