The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has responded to criticism of plans to cancel some bus services. It said it has to balance the needs of commuters with the availability of other travel options and the burden on taxpayers. Questions have been raised over the planned removal of services 700 and 700A connecting Bukit Panjang to the city. LTA said since Phase 2 of the Downtown Line opened in December 2015, ridership for bus services that run parallel to the line has fallen.
