Car : MB E Class 2010 350 CDI 4Matic
Due to the fact that I didn't like the way the car brakes in certain situations, I made the decision to change almost everything that is important and vital related to the braking system.
So the car is about to make 200k km in the next few days, serivce B followed in 8000 km according to the system information in the dashboard.
I want to keep the car as long as possible in its factory condition, so I only choose OEM parts.
So I took all the TRW discs and pads and the FERODO parking brake.
But the surprise was when I discovered that only on the front brake calipers was the TRW logo and on the back is ATE.
The whole operation took place in the garage of a very skilled friend and attentive to details and lasted somewhere around 6 hours.
All 4 discs were factory fitted. Due to the fact that the brake calipers were never lowered, I encountered some problems.
On the front, everything went pretty well.
But in the back the screws were gripped as well as the parking brake, some levers were locked inside the system, the parking brake being totally inefficient, even more than the thread, on the right back the pad wear sensor was attached from the factory with a screw that after many attempts to get it out, it froze and broke in the brake caliper.
That was the worst moment, we didn't want to improvise so we had to remove the screw and fix the thread in the brake caliper.
I do not recommend long-term use of brake discs, at least the ones on the back had serious signs of wear on the inside, and braking was not effective.
Inside the rear discs, there is the parking brake system, there it was full of dust and rust, I think that periodically that area should be removed and cleaned.
But what matters is that now everything has been cleaned, polished, greased and now the brake is like new.
The brake fluid looks clean, so it's the only one left unchanged, at least for now.
Thank you!
