It seems nearly every variant of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE has been spotted testing recently, with the normal version, its respective AMG, and the coupe’s AMG all roaming about in their camouflage. However, one that hasn’t yet been seen is the non-AMG coupe, but our spy photographers were able to capture one testing out in the wild.
As is the case with the regular SUV version, the coupe will be receiving a very minor facelift. The main highlights include revised lighting and bumper designs both in the front and in the back.
Up front, the shape of the headlights appears to stay the same as the outgoing model, but the lighting design of the main bulbs and DRLs appears to be different. More noticeably, though, is that the lower corner intakes are now more rounded and appear to be separate from the central intake under the grille, though the latter detail could just be a trick of the camo. The bumper also appears to feature a new skid plate that is split down the middle compared to the outgoing model’s fully open one.
Out back, the changes are a bit more subtle. The lower bumper design looks to have been tweaked ever so slightly, and the taillights, while they seemingly retain the same shape, feature a new light design that has horizontal bars instead of the old model’s amorphous outlines. While there are no photos of this test car’s interior, expect it to be similar to the one spotted on the SUV version’s prototype, whose only new feature was the updated steering wheel found in Mercedes’ latest vehicles.
As far as engine options are concerned, it is believed that the pre-facelift model’s range will carry over. The updated GLE is expected to be introduced sometime this year and will be offered as a 2023 model.
