We drive the fifth-gen W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class in its petrol C 200 variant. This is the most affordable version of the new-gen C-Class in India, priced at Rs 55 lakh. So do you really need to splurge on the top C 300d?

On paper, the petrol C 200 makes a good case for itself. It puts out a healthy 205PS and 300 Nm, gets the EQ Boost mild-hybrid assistance with the extra 21PS and 200 Nm and fuel efficiency has gone up by 29 per cent over the last C-Class.
