0:00 - Intro
BAD:
0:42 - Small for 3 row
The Q7 is actually kind of a tweener which makes it hard to compare to other vehicles - like I said it’s smaller than the GLS but bigger than the GLE
And Smaller than the X7 but bigger than the X5
But at least you have a place you CAN put kids
1:17 - No RS version
There’s no full bore X7M but there is a GLS63
And there’s no RSQ7 but there IS an RSQ8 which is more performancey but also smaller…but has the bigger number? IDK
So again it’s hard to nail down exactly what this competes against
A GLS580? Similar power but lacking performance upgrades
A X7 M60? A bit more power, a but bigger, and a bit more expensive
But probably the closest competitor
2:12 - Overly subtle
As far as the exterior styling we’ve got the incognito spec with the black optics package
Everything is black except for the S on the brakes
And The S on the tailgate
It’s a strong look for sure
But in typical Audi fashion the lighting is the main event
You get really cool layered runners and they’re digital matrix so they project stuff on the ground for nav and more
2:43 - Aging platform
This SQ7 belongs to the same generation that’s been out since 2015
It did get a refresh in 2020
3:04 - Fuel Economy
The SQ7 gets about 17 mpg average
Which is less than the 19 mpg combined you get in the bigger, more powerful X7 M60i
BUT it’s better than the 16 mpg in the GLS63…that said it’s only 1 mpg better and the GLS makes over 100 more hp
GOOD:
3:39 - Price
The Audis are almost almost cheaper than the BMW and the Benz
But this SQ7 is A LOT cheaper
The SQ7 starts at 90k
As tested it’s 105k and that’s pretty much maxed out
A BMW X7 M60 STARTS at 109k so more than the maxed price here
And the GLS63 comes with a comical 140k starting price
Even the smaller GLE63 starts 130k and it only comes in the ugly coupe body style and no third row
4:36 - Performance drama
It’s packig the same engine we’ve seen in Panamera Turbos, Cayenne Turbos, LAmborghini Urus, and even Audi’s own RS6 and RS7
It;s the fire breathing 4.0TT V8 from VAG
And here it makes 500 hp and 570 lbft
Audi says it jumps to 60 in 4.3 seconds but in my experience it’s under 4 seconds…consistently
6:12 - Excellent cabin quality
Go ahead, grab anything in here and try to rip it off ar shake it - no creaks, no give, no rattle - just quality
6:50 - Everyday ride & drive
They do the best at settling down and just being a luxury car when you’re not pushing it
The air suspension settles down in comfort mode and the ride is SO GOOD
It’s not as good as the ride on the S8, but you guys will remember how I raved about how that car settled back
And this is pretty similar
It’s better riding than the X7 and certainly the GLS63
The rear steer works really well in parking lots and downtown
7:40 - Simple luxury
You’ve got great stuff like heated and cooled seats
Plus you get the optional massage here on this one
You’ve got the diamond stitched sport seats but on in the third row
Your ambient lighting is nice, but nowhere near Mercedes
Your cluster is Audi’s excellent Virtual Cockpit - which is great but not packing anything ground breaking since we first saw it
Your infotainment system is a dual screen setup with your lower screen being climate and comfort oriented
And the upper screen housing all your media and info
But even with 2 screens they don’t pack in any fancy gimmicks
Just ACP, AA, nav, great 360 cameras, and that’s about it
8:35 - Rear seat/2nd row
Great space
Slide, recline
Good light with pano roof
Climate zone and vents
9:05 - Trunk
With third row up you have good size trunk
Third row power folds
Totally flat floor
2nd row doesnt power fold like in GLS
9:32 - Towing
7700 lbs
More than X7
Basically same as GLS
-
9:53 - Conclusion
